We welcome NHS and private patients of all ages, from young children to older adults, and we’re proud to be known locally for our friendly, personal approach. Whether it’s your first eye test with us or you’ve been visiting for years, you can expect unrushed care and clear, honest advice.

Looking after your eyes

Your eyesight plays a huge part in everyday life, and regular eye examinations are an important way to protect it. An eye test isn’t just about checking whether you need glasses, it also helps us spot early signs of eye conditions, often before you notice any symptoms yourself.

By catching changes early, we can give you the best advice and, where needed, refer you on promptly. It’s all part of helping you keep your eyes healthy for the long term.

What happens at your eye examination?

When you visit us, we’ll start by talking with you about your vision, general health and any concerns you may have. We take time to listen and get to know you, so your eye examination is tailored to your needs.

Your appointment may include:

  • Checking how clearly you can see at different distances
  • Assessing how well your eyes work together
  • Measuring the pressure inside your eyes
  • Examining the health of the front and back of your eyes
  • Visual field testing, where appropriate

If any additional tests are needed, we’ll explain why and talk you through everything in plain English.

Modern technology, used with care

We use up-to-date equipment, including OCT scanning and visual field testing, to help us look in detail at your eye health. These tests are quick, comfortable and painless, and they allow us to monitor subtle changes over time.

This technology is especially useful for patients over 40 and those with a family history of eye conditions, but it’s always used thoughtfully and only when it’s right for you.

Do I need glasses?

Part of your eye examination looks at whether glasses or contact lenses could improve your vision. We’ll clearly show you any changes to your prescription and explain what they mean for day-to-day life, such as reading, driving or working on a screen.

There’s never any pressure. Our role is to help you understand your options and feel confident about your choices.
